The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash)
The DFPE (HADASH in Hebrew) is a Jewish-Arab movement composed of the Communist Party of Israel (established in 1919), local branches of the Front, and Jewish and Arab groups and individuals. DFPE has fortified its position as the main consistent, authentic Left in Israel. The party credits its long years of struggle as the primary reason why issues of peace and equality, such as that of a Palestinian state, have now gained popularity.
Palestinian Statehood
Hadash recognizes of the right of the Palestinian people to establish its own independent and sovereign state in the territories alongside the State of Israel. The party views Israel's rule in the Palestinian territories as an act of "state terrorism continuing for 35 years."
Peace Process
Immediate restart of the peace process based on land for peace, recognition of a Palestinian state and evacuation of settlements.
Jerusalem
In the framework of a permanent and stable peace settlement, West Jerusalem will be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel and East Jerusalem - the capital of independent Palestine. The accords will ensure cooperation between the two capitals, free access to the Holy Places and free movement between the two parts of the city.
Israeli Communities in the Territories (Settlements)
Hadash views these communities as illegal and provocative to the Palestinian nation. The party believes the all of the Israeli communities will have to be evacuated as the border between Israel and the future Palestinian state will that prior to the June 1967 Six-Day War.
Demographic Issues
The party platform calls for two states for two people - Israel and Palestine. As such, the demographic balance and nature of both entities is not at risk. In any event, Hadash believes Israel should be a state of its citizens and, therefore, is not concerned with maintaining the demographic status quo.
Economy & Social Welfare
Hadash has a strong socialist and communist economic viewpoint.
Religion & State
The party advocates a state of its citizens rather than a Jewish State.
